Path of Grass Excerpt

“Nikolaus, please don’t leave—don’t go away now,” Margaret cried, wrapping her arms around him. “Margie, it is for our country, it is for Germany, it is for the Fatherland. Otherwise, they will come and take our land. They will take away everything we know.” “But I want you with me; I will be left alone,” she pleaded. “Kneel down,” he said. “Feel this,” he put his hands on the earth. “This is our land, this is ours.  If we let the British and the Russians and the Americans win, this will be gone. Be brave, Margie, for our country, for…

Path of Grass Excerpt

My name is Adele.  But the other sisters call me Catherine, so I do not know who I am. My mother was French; my father was German. My father’s family was angry because he married a foolish French woman. After my parents died I was given to a convent and have lived there ever since. I remember the day when I was four years old. My Aunt Matilda pulled me impatiently through the streets and stopped at the nunnery door. She crossly straightened my little brown dress and tied the old shoes that were too big for me, and then…

Coming Soon: Path of Grass

While progress was slightly delayed, I’m on track to get Path of Grass published in the next month or two. Actually, it might be more like two or three months, just because I have to be patient and wait for other people who can’t devote every waking moment to preparing my book for publication. Why is this exciting and why should you be excited about Path of Grass? As a friend of mine at a recent Mises Circle said, we’re not going to achieve more liberty by voting for “better” rulers. Look at the “freedom loving” Tea Party candidates who…

Nice Mises Daily Article

You really should check out this article at Mises.org. Really. 🙂 It is by my good friend, Floy Lilley, on our experiences in Prof. Gordon’s logic class. I say “our” because she quotes me extensively (which is pretty cool). A nice benefit of having a website where you can spout off about everything you think of, lol. So, go over to Mises.org and read the article! Oh, does anyone know who in the world Mumford & Sons are? I’ve never heard of them… 🙂

The Days Slowly Ebb Away…

Firstly, the trackpad on my Mac stopped working this week. While this was really annoying and frustrating, it thankfully was not so much of a crisis since I have an external mouse which is doing a decent job right now. I miss the convenience of having a trackpad right there under the keyboard and I miss all the great finger swipes and shortcuts I was used to. Computer work is a bit more laborious, I feel like I’m almost using a PC again and not a Mac. And if you were at my Tuesday webinar, I think the problem was that my…

New Stuff

Please sign up for my email newsletter/updates over there ————————>>> If you do, you’ll get the latest before it goes public (like when my book is coming out…) and you don’t have to keep remembering to check my site. I really would appreciate you signing up, just to make me feel good. And of course, I won’t be sharing your info with anyone else. 🙂 Other news: – Some time ago I did a “Shameless Self-Promotion” post which was much more popular than I anticipated. I converted that into a page that you can find under “About me.” It has…

Mises Academy Class Starts Tonight!

I think the most exciting thing for me this week has been the prospect of taking this course on logic from the Mises Academy. As I’ve said before, I’m a little nervous about it, but I’m not in it to get the best grade but to learn, so even if my essays are horrible but I have learned from it, then it will be worth it. I’d like to see you at this class too, there’s still time to sign up! On other subjects, I’m finally contemplating the idea of getting my driver’s license. I’ll be able to do it…

Path of Grass Progress

(also posted at PathofGrass.com) Yesterday I got the manuscript draft back from my editor. He did a great job on it, and now my task is to go through and decide if I want to keep all of his changes. Some of them I ignore after a long time of contemplation (shhh…don’t tell him!), others I apply exactly as he says and with a few I make alternative changes that fix the problem. It is very exciting for me to see this book coming so close to publication. I have another book draft that never made it this far (and…

Hello, 2011!

I stayed up till midnight on New Years Eve, did you? First we watched a rather silly movie, “The Philadelphia Story” with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart. We weren’t impressed much with it. The story goes that there’s this girl (Katherine Hepburn) who has very high standards. This is one reason why she left her first husband because (she claims) he drank far too much and she never drank at all. The night before she gets married she gets drunk and goes swimming with Jimmy Stewart (who is not her soon-to-be-husband) and then expects her fiancee to “accept” her as…

I’m Still Alive

Yes, I’m still here, in case you were wondering. I have such good intentions every week to blog at least once a day and then I start missing days and all of a sudden it is the end of the week and I’ve written only one post. How does that happen? I’ve been busy this week working on some new projects. I’ll be rolling out a website for my book very soon. I’m getting really, really excited about the book. This is something I’ve dreamed of for years, and I’ve been working on this story for at least 2 years,…
