Did Capitalism Cause the Recession?

After hearing Tom Woods speak last night I was inspired to dig up this youtube video again. It was really cool that Tom Woods talked about much of the same things as I do in this speech. I guess that’s not surprising since I got a lot of my information from “Meltdown.” But in this video I go into more depth and look at more of the causes than Tom Woods did last night. No, it isn’t quite as funny (or near as funny, except maybe the slide about the animal spirits…) but if you need a crash course in…

Thank You, Bush…for the TSA

I guess the title of this post gives it all away. There’s been much commotion these days over the TSA. Haven’t you noticed? It is here, and here, if that’s not enough, then here, here and here. As many are saying, it is just out of control. There is no way that anyone will convince me to fly while there are still these scanners, still these pat-downs, still the horrible TSA. I’d rather miss Mises U or seeing Ron Paul than go through that. And I hope the conservatives are happy now. I hope the Republicans are satisfied. This is the…

The High Cost of War

A report just came out, revealing that it costs NATO $50 million to kill a single Taliban insurgent. So as The New American points out, the Republicans will respond to this news and say, “oh, well, let’s try to make killing more efficient. If we are efficient enough at killing ‘them’ then we’ll win!” instead of thinking that perhaps it is better to save a human life than to save $50 million.

Study Nullification Online with Tom Woods!

Tom Woods will start his online class on Nullification and the Principles of ’98 tomorrow night. If I had any spare time, I would probably sign up. As he said at Mises U this summer, nullification is a way to beat the government at their own game. For him it is just fun to use the same document as everyone else pretends to uphold (the Constitution) and explain why it allows states the power to nullify any federal law. It may be fun for him, but it is deadly serious for all Americans who will soon be faced with the…

The Unfortunate Tale of One Who Turned Their Computer On and Regretted It

What I mean by this is that you should turn your computer on, but don’t do it when you are up in front of an audience about to give a presentation. If at all possible, do it before then. Why? You will see the reason why in just a moment. But just to clarify, I fully support the idea of turning your computer on. It is a most useful and productive action. It just can be done at the wrong time, with bitter consequences. Here’s a scenario that will invariably occur if you start giving powerpoint presentations. If it hasn’t…

Bush: The Greater Threat to Liberty

Note: This statement is made in relation to the former president and the current President Obama. There are some who have come before and some who will probably come after who are greater threats to our liberty. Last night after walking out on the Nightly News (I figured I’d be kicked out of the room anyways…for my adamant yelling at the TV screen) I made the extraordinary statement that Bush was a far worse president than President Obama. After reflection I realize that it wasn’t all that extraordinary, but it sounds better that way, doesn’t it? So I had to…

I Get to See Tom Woods Again!

Note to people: If you want me to do something or go somewhere, you must directly ask me. Simply posting links on Facebook will not do it. I have way too much going on, I don’t really pay attention. I’d seen this event a dozen times, but didn’t even consider going until a friend emailed me and asked if I was going. Even if you email me, I might say no, but at least I will think about it. So my dad and I are going down to Normal on November 17th to IL State U to hear (and see)…

Help!

Okay…I’m looking for help, ideas, suggestions, advice, on how to promote my online class. I’m sure the socialist would point out that I’m selfishly  motivated, which is true (who isn’t selfishly motivated?) but let me remind the socialist that I’m also offering something of value (I hope) to consumers. But I’m also motivated by more “noble” desires as well, I want to share this material and this information about free market economics with as many people as possible. So for that reason, I’m asking if anyone has any ideas about how to spread the word about it. If I uploaded…
