We Are Back!

If you tried to visit my site between about 3pm on Saturday and sometime Sunday afternoon, you will know that the site was down. More about that later, I’m just glad to have it back! I’m going to try to clean it up now, maybe pick a new theme. Yay! 🙂

A Few New Things…

As you’ve probably noticed, I generally get bored with the look of my site after a few months. I have so far resisted the temptation to change the theme. However, I added a calendar to the sidebar. There are a few events on there right now, if you know of other events I should add, please let me know. I do reserve the right to not post your event on the calendar, but it isn’t very likely that I shall decide not to publish it. If you know of C4L events, Tea Party events, End the Fed rallies, anything really,…

I Get to See Tom Woods Again!

Note to people: If you want me to do something or go somewhere, you must directly ask me. Simply posting links on Facebook will not do it. I have way too much going on, I don’t really pay attention. I’d seen this event a dozen times, but didn’t even consider going until a friend emailed me and asked if I was going. Even if you email me, I might say no, but at least I will think about it. So my dad and I are going down to Normal on November 17th to IL State U to hear (and see)…

A Little Story

Once upon a time there was a family traveling in a van. For some unknown reason the parents wanted the back windows of the van open to keep warm or perhaps keep cool something that was in the trunk. So they told the girls in the back seat to open the windows. And one little girl said, “what??!! Did we run out of air?” And the rest of them said nothing in reply for what could they say?

Can a Christian Be an Anarchist?

This is a question I’ve been asking myself lately. I’ve done a lot of thinking, not to mention praying, on this subject. Here are some thoughts… Consider this hypothetical situation: 1) There is a tyrannical despot ruling over a country. 2) God “raptures” all believers (no, I don’t believe in “the rapture”…but it is useful for this imaginary situation). 3) Unbelievers rebel against the government and slowly anarchy emerges. Private road systems form. People begin offering their services…post offices, crime protection, etc… 4) God brings Christians back to the world and sets them in this anarchic society. In this situation,…

A Sneak Peek…

I haven’t written on many weighty subjects this week.  Believe me, it is all in my mind, I just haven’t had the time to sit down and write it all down. First off, today and tomorrow you can watch the speeches from the Mises Institute’s Supporters Summit here. I couldn’t make it to this event, so I hope to watch some of it over the internet. I hope you do too! It is on the “economic recovery” (aka Washington’s Big Lie) and promises to be very interesting. I thought I’d give you a peek at some things I hope to…

Business-Government Partnership

I got an interesting email this morning. I’m inclined to believe it is merely spam. My apologies to the author if it is legitimate. I read a lot of my spam mail when I want to laugh, so the format and language of this message is eerily similar to what Gmail sends to my spam box. At any rate, this person asked me to look at their website and comment on their proposal to save our nation. I guess they hope it will get rid of the state debt and I don’t know what else. Basically, it comes down to…

Today: Very Happy Day

Today was another day in which I received a package in the mail from a place I’m very familiar with. 🙂 Next to my desk… There is a rather large box full of fliers and books donated by the Mises Institute, specifically the book by Mises, “The Place of Economics in Learning” and the flier, “Why Austrian Economics Matters.” This came in the mail today. There’s a box next to it full of copies of “Pictures of a Socialistic Future”…donated by a friend for my workshop. And behind that and spilling over the bottom shelf of my books are hundreds…

Some Ramblings

I really can’t understand the UK. Besides their Orwellian policies, it is very confusing. I’ve started listening to BBC Radio 3 lately for my classical music. Why I don’t just listen to WNIU, I don’t know. And if I wanted something “foreign” I could just switch over to Wisconsin Public Radio. But no, I listen to BBC instead. Now here’s the strange part. I usually get up around 7 or 7.30. When I turn the radio on (BBC) it is usually their “Lunchtime Performance” which I can understand. That makes sense, as I know IL and the UK are on…

The Plight of Humanity

I must admit, that title is a little broad. There are many things that could be listed as a plight of humanity. Perhaps after writing this I will have a better title. This morning, in an effort to stretch the mental muscles of my sister, I proposed a hypothetical situation. Yes, it was a little silly, but oh well. Here goes. Imagine that you are going on a picnic. You make chicken sandwiches and lemonade. You’re going on this picnic with some people you don’t know too well. They aren’t your best friends. You get to the picnic grounds, and…
