New Stuff

Please sign up for my email newsletter/updates over there ————————>>> If you do, you’ll get the latest before it goes public (like when my book is coming out…) and you don’t have to keep remembering to check my site. I really would appreciate you signing up, just to make me feel good. And of course, I won’t be sharing your info with anyone else. 🙂 Other news: – Some time ago I did a “Shameless Self-Promotion” post which was much more popular than I anticipated. I converted that into a page that you can find under “About me.” It has…

Report on First Mises Academy Class

If you know me on Facebook then perhaps you were following my saga last night which went like this: 12 hours before class: “Bad news: FB finally forced me to get the new profile. Dislike. 🙁 GOOD news: Mises Academy class starts TONIGHT!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)” 3 hours before class: “Class starts in 3 hours. I’ve got about 18 more pages to finish reading. Mises Academy Class Starts Tonight!

I think the most exciting thing for me this week has been the prospect of taking this course on logic from the Mises Academy. As I’ve said before, I’m a little nervous about it, but I’m not in it to get the best grade but to learn, so even if my essays are horrible but I have learned from it, then it will be worth it. I’d like to see you at this class too, there’s still time to sign up! On other subjects, I’m finally contemplating the idea of getting my driver’s license. I’ll be able to do it…

Hello!

So far this is has been a good Monday. I’m only an hour into it, but it is quite promising. Usually by this time I would be only half an hour or less into the day (because I sleep in….) but today I got up early and that’s always comforting. Well, it is nice after you get up but not while you’re laying in bed wishing the alarm clock didn’t go off and you could just forget about it. Oh well. Here’s my favorite quote from yesterday, “A big, sovereign God frees us to be little, humble people with bright…

Path of Grass Progress

(also posted at PathofGrass.com) Yesterday I got the manuscript draft back from my editor. He did a great job on it, and now my task is to go through and decide if I want to keep all of his changes. Some of them I ignore after a long time of contemplation (shhh…don’t tell him!), others I apply exactly as he says and with a few I make alternative changes that fix the problem. It is very exciting for me to see this book coming so close to publication. I have another book draft that never made it this far (and…

Hello, 2011!

I stayed up till midnight on New Years Eve, did you? First we watched a rather silly movie, “The Philadelphia Story” with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart. We weren’t impressed much with it. The story goes that there’s this girl (Katherine Hepburn) who has very high standards. This is one reason why she left her first husband because (she claims) he drank far too much and she never drank at all. The night before she gets married she gets drunk and goes swimming with Jimmy Stewart (who is not her soon-to-be-husband) and then expects her fiancee to “accept” her as…

I’m Still Alive

Yes, I’m still here, in case you were wondering. I have such good intentions every week to blog at least once a day and then I start missing days and all of a sudden it is the end of the week and I’ve written only one post. How does that happen? I’ve been busy this week working on some new projects. I’ll be rolling out a website for my book very soon. I’m getting really, really excited about the book. This is something I’ve dreamed of for years, and I’ve been working on this story for at least 2 years,…

Most Exciting News

In a couple weeks I’ll be taking David Gordon’s “How to Think: An Introduction to Logic.” Words can’t describe how excited I am. This is like telling a kid, “hey, you get to go to Disneyland for 7 weeks!” or, well, I’m not sure what can compare to the uber amazing thought of taking this course. David Gordon wrote a great article about his course for Mises Daily, you can read it here. That’s what got me really going about how fantastic this course will be. I took a formal logic class a couple years ago and really loved it….

I’m Back!

You know the feeling, when your parents were gone, you were at home having a great time and then the front door opens and a voice calls, “I’m back!” I hope that’s not how you feel. I hope you are more excited about me coming back to my blog. If you are tired of a blogger blogging on their own blog, well, then don’t read their blog. Did you have a good Christmas? We did. It was the year of warm things for me, a blanket, new coat, slippers, etc…but it was rather ironic because on Christmas Eve when we were…
