NaPoMo: Street Song

Welcome to April, National Poetry Month! To celebrate, I’ll be posting poems here through the month, and will attempt to write some of my own! So here is a poem I stumbled across today in a new book of poetry…

Street Song

Like an
eddying willow leaf
I stand

on the street
and turn:
people,

both ways coming
and going
around me, swirl:

probably I
am no stiller–
detached; but

gold is
coming
into my veins
