I’m here to inform you that I won’t be posting today. Actually, I’ve just told a lie because this post is contradicting what I just said. I am indeed, posting today. What I meant was, I won’t be posting a long rant, or anything like that. I have an econ class to teach today, so I will be busy with gummy bears, sour gummy worms and “Good and Plenty” licorice. I’ll explain it all later. Suffice to say, I’m extremely excited. I’m more excited about this class than the students because they don’t know they are getting candy. Ahhh…the joys of teaching. 🙂
Please comment on: Paul Copeland, 56, a Vietnam veteran, was sentenced to prison time and two years probation in federal court last week for selling a gun to an undocumented alien. But Huerta, the “middle man” who bought the gun for Aviles and also was in the country illegally, suffered no legal consequences in the case. He is believed to still be living in the country illegally.
What can I say? This is the American “justice system.” What other result can we expect if our justice is founded on political whims? If we have no absolutes? If what is “right” today might be “wrong” tomorrow? If it matters not whether you are innocent or guilty but whether you have political connections? This should not surprise us. We leave the government in control of anything, and it becomes corrupted and no longer fulfills its purpose.
